MBB: Bleecker Consort
The Bleecker Consort is an early music consort formed in 1988 and located in Albany, NY. It specializes in medieval and renaissance music. The consort members come from a variety of professional backgrounds (medicine, music, university teaching, library sciences, astronomy, biology, Spanish, etc.) and play a diverse set of instruments, including early strings (e.g. vielle, viol, bandurria, mandola, mandolin, lute, laud, harp, hurdy-gurdy), recorders, reeds (cornamusen, kelhorn, dulcian, crumhorn, rauschpfife), and a variety of percussion. In addition, we add period vocals to much of our music.
