MBB: Banned Book Week event with the Capital Region Chapter of the NYCLU

Banned Book Week

National Banned Book Week, celebrated each September, highlights the importance of the freedom to read and have adequate access to information and education. To highlight these needs, the American Library Association compiles an annual list of the most frequently challenged and banned books which, over the last year, included The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky), Nickel and Dimed (Barbara Ehrenreich), Beloved (Toni Morrison) and 50 Shades of Grey (E.L. James).

On September 27th, join local bibliophiles as they read from their favorite banned and challenged books. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own favorites for the read-out.
